API 5CT Coupling
Steel pipe couplings, an essential component in pipeline systems, are short pipes or tubes threaded on both ends, designed to seamlessly join pipelines. These pipe fittings, featuring threaded connections, offer a distinct advantage: they simplify pipeline maintenance and allow for effortless replacement of damaged pipes.
API Couplings are robust steel connectors designed for joining casing pipes and tubing. Known as OCTG couplings, they are typically seamless, matching the material grade of the pipe body (such as API 5CT K55/J55, N80, L80, P110, etc.). Often, these couplings are manufactured to meet or exceed the requested material grades and adhere to identical heat treatments unless specified otherwise.
Tubing couplings, with a maximum outer diameter of 4 1/2 inches, are integral to drilling operations. The tubing encases the sucker rod used for drilling and pumping oil. Tubing couplings are more diverse and stringent than casing couplings, with the preferred type being the thickened upset coupling (inclusive of both internal and external upset). EUE couplingEUE coupling, or External Upset End coupling, stands as the preferred choice in tubing connections. Tubings with EUE end connections are also known as UPTBG. The thickened tubing end enhances connecting stress resistance when compared to buttress couplings. In contrast, buttress couplings, another type for tubing, maintain consistent pipe body thickness and are designated as NU end (NUENUE) tubing or TBG.
Oil tubing couplings effectively address the issue of fatigue fractures, often caused by stress concentration in conventional couplings. The oil tubing end connects to the coupling's interior wall via tapered threads. Meanwhile, the coupling body and oil tubing connect using the same thread pitch flat thread, minimizing fatigue fracture risks and ensuring superior connection integrity. This innovative design significantly reduces the likelihood of oil well pipe string breakage.

Casing coupling

Casing couplings are designed for dimensions exceeding 4 1/2 inches. Unlike tubing couplings, casing couplings generally do not require thickening, known as Non-upset. This type of coupling comes in the following variations:
Round thread • LTC/LC: Long round thread casing coupling
• STC/SC: Short round thread casing coupling
Buttress thread • BTC/BC: Buttress thread casing coupling
All three coupling types share the same pipe body thickness, differing only in length.
